Vista Icons Pack v2.1 Ultimate - System Patch

Vista Icons Pack v2.0 Ultimate - System Patch
Vista Icons Pack v2.1 Ultimate - System Patch will replace standard Windows XP to Vista icons! It modifys about 70 windows system files, including not necess big icon libraries as Shell32.dll, Netshell.dll and Wmploc.dll and many others. This patch make your Windows Media Player taskbar pane like in Windows Vista.
After installing you can go to Folder Options and change icons for some files, for example change it for PNG-image, now system file include icon for this image format (see file ...system32\shimgvw.dll, last icon) or for MSI and MSP (icons for these file types you can find in Shell32.dll).
No more XP icons!

screwed up my WMP 10!!!

Kudesnick said...

It is can not be if you install everything right. Did you got WMP 10 (not WMP9)? What's wrong?

I use 64pix icons, would this work at this resolution?

Kudesnick said...

Windows uses icons only up to 48x, so 64x icons will look bad

i reinstalled it the pack in safe mode and it works fine now.. btw, why my system tray network connection icon does not blinking??

Anonymous said...

Any chance you can add support for the 64, 96 and 128 pix icons in next release?
Let me know if I can be of any help in butifying this pack on vijay_wai@yahoo.com,
Thx

Network connection icon is blinking! But you can not see it because of colour of taskbar (I think you use Black as in Vista), if you will use lighter (blue, green, white...) taskbar than you will see the blinking of connection icon.
I can add 96x, 128x, 256x icons, but:
1) Windows doesn't use them, even you make show files as Thumbnails. The max for Windows XP is 48x icons
2)The more formats in icon, the more file size, the more processor using

this is the best vista shell patch.. ^^ no crappy huge icons like vcp3,microwinx pack etc.. flyakite(sorry fans)

suggestion:

* use only official vista icons.. i think the "show desktop" & "my videos" icons arent offical..

Anonymous said...

yup network icon is there.. its invisible when i'm using black color taskbar. can you make it for black color taskbar? thx

Kudesnick said...

>use only official vista icons.. i think the "show desktop" & "my videos" icons arent offical..
"Show desktop" is official, "My Videos" and "My Pictures" was made by me, because of Vista has only one folder called "My Pictures and Videos".

Anonymous said...

@Kudesnick, is the "showdeskto" official? but why i dont see that in so many vista screenshots? they still use the default win xo show desktop icon in the quicklaunch..

sorry bout the typo

I have no problems with the install or windows running, but is there a way to uninstall/undo this?

What is the original files? c/windows/icon_tmp or c/windows/system_backup?

is there something saying where they go to replace them back, or do i need to search everywhere?

Anonymous said...

Tnx. Look great! Good job, esspecialy 'cause it's free. ;)

Kudesnick said...

dapaintballer331, system_restore include previous system files. Most of them are from System32, but not every.

Great work man, keep it up!

It doesn't replace icons to my control panel and update cache doesn't help....also the installer added arabic fonts to the network flasher and security center in the CP has arabic description..plus windows constantly wants to run security updates after each installation to rebuild system files and prevent further installation, I imagine. I had it installed on my other computer with no problems though, and it is a marvelous job, Kudesnik! Cpacibo for your help.

I just downloaded it, & installed. I got a few questions regarding these.

1) While installing, Windows said that some files are removed & i need to enter my XP SP2 CD, why is this so? what files does this remove, will this pose some problem

2) After installing, rebooting & recreating the shell icons, i find two folder in the c:\windows folder by the name system_backup (backedup system files) & icons_tmp, to save HD space i backuped up these folders to other place, & deleted the original, so in case i m making any changes or repairing it, I will simply copy them back & do so, will this work, or m i doing something wrong

3) If it has already made backup of system files, then what are all those *.backup files in my windows & system32 folder?

Nexus

1) You should run installation in Windows Safe Mode (readthe licence).
2) These two folders are needed when you uninstal VIPv2_SP or repair installation.
3) Actually I don't know :) Should toask Aero, he create the install part.

I have mae a few Vista file type icons for vasious applications i use for my applications, they are not pure vista but they do match properly in the WindowsXP enviroment. Do u think u can incorporate them in this pack, or provide as a seperate zip with this pack, I can show u the icons if U want

Size is 16X16 to 48X48, i don't use over that so didn't make them at that resolution

Can we expect more icons to be added? I'm running 2.1 at the moment and am eagerly waiting for 2.2 ;-)

when i installed this patch the hidden button on my taskbar have dissappeared!!!
my taskbar will only display 5 trayicons now(no matter what it is)
for example when i try to minimize my msn messenger to the tray(theres 5 icon already) i will not able to see the messenger icon on the tray
is there any way to fix it?
or is this patch not compatible with windowblinds 5.01?

Kudesnick said...

I think this problem is not because of System Patch. VIPv2_SP just replace some system resources, but not modify system code. None before saing about this problem.

Link is dead. When will it be up again ?

I had first installed the 2.0 ICONS with icon tweaker. then i installed pack 2.1 ultimate system patch. then i uninstalled ICONTWEAKER, and some of my icons dissapeared. then i tired to reinstall vista ultimate patch, which didnt work. so i removed it, reinstalled it. then repaired it. so most of the icons are back, expcept some of te control panel icons like fonts etc. please help

Kudesnick said...

All icons replaced with IconTweaker can be replaced using VIPv2_SP. You just need to install it in Windows Safe Mode.

Anonymous said...

I encountered some problems using it.

How to use it? run VIP v2.1 ,reboot and what is the next
step? RebuildIcon Cache or start Icon patch?

What icons will be changed ? Such as icons in the start menu and control panel ,etc.

thank you?

I use a high resolution of 1280x1024 because I have a LCD screen. And I use Big Icons for my start menu and desktop, however when using your patch those icons are reduced to half their size. Is there a way to get them bigger? :S
